Delight To Be In His Presence |

Don’t you love to be in the presence of loved ones? There is such joy in sharing and enjoying the company. My aunts in the rest home loved our visits. Their faces blossomed and they loved Emmitt’s “hello” and “goodbye” Although our children are grown and gone now we relish the times we get to visit. It’s being together. It’s love. It’s family. We enjoy each other. I’m a real “people person.” I enjoy people and I silently “shoot” prayers. We sat behind a couple recently. I silently asked the Lord to bless them in every way. Suddenly they turned around, smiled and greeted us warmly. I often “shoot” prayers at the minister while he is preaching. Of all the wonderful blessings we have been given in this life the thing I enjoy the most is the Lord. “Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart” (Psalm 37:4). I’m learning that listening is an important part of those times. A preacher once told me, “You can’t hear the Lord because you talk too much.” So I am practicing, “Be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10). Enjoying God is enjoying life. Enjoying God is an attitude of gratitude. Enjoying God puts zest into living. Knowing God of this universe never forsakes his child is great assurance. Through God’s Son we have been given eternal life and that keeps our focus straight. Enjoying God will put a spring in your step and a song in your heart. God walks daily with us in every circumstance. That is peace and joy. Did you know the Lord joys over you with singing? My spirit joys over him with singing too. Many times in the night I have awakened to find my spirit singing unto him. If you have ever experienced this you know what I’m taking about. Maybe I haven’t thought of a particular hymn in a long time but I wake up with this particular song in my spirit. A friend had been diagnosed for “colon cancer.” Here are her words with her permission: “A voice began singing in my right ear. He sang beautifully. My oncologist nor any other specialists had an answer for it. The oncologist went so far as to say he had patients that had heard noises, but never music. Then my husband told me, ‘Those who have, won’t tell it. They don’t want to be thought of as crazy.’” My friend confided to me that the experience of the Lord singing in her ear was the most wonderful experience of her entire life and that she would not have missed it for anything. She doesn’t worry what people will think, nor does she care. She loves to tell what the Lord has done for her. “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty: he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” Let us delight in his presence!
