The Bible has an answer for every problem that confronts mankind. Why can’t we recognize this Holy book has the key to life? The biblical principles, when applied, guarantees success to the obedient believer. Reading the Bible changes lives and circumstances. In this modern day world of bio-chemical and nuclear threats, there is no security apart from God. Without God’s Word, people are tossed to and fro in confusion, not knowing what to do or what to believe. Stability and peace comes only from knowing the One and only true God. Our founding fathers knew this source of life. Their love and respect for God’s Word displayed the secret of their greatness. George Washington has been quoted as saying: “It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible.” Abraham Lincoln stated this about the Bible: “I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given man. All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated to us through this book.” Daniel Webster stated: “If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will prosper. But if we and our posterity neglect the instructions and authority in this Book, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overtake us and bury our glory in profound obscurity.” The Bible is the only thing that stands the test of time. Dictators have tried to destroy it. Communism has tried to annihilate it. Atheists have denied it. Opponents have tried to discount it. Yet the Bible still remains the only truth. It will never pass away: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35). The Bible provides the standard of behavior. Any deviation from its principles results in devastation. Imagine a world with no absolutes, just “doing one’s own thing.” (We have plenty of that.) A society who “does what is right in his or her own eyes,” offers no peace or security. (Judges 17:6) You will find an answer in the Bible for every troubling situation. Are you discouraged? Read Isaiah 40:28-31 Are you facing a crisis? Read Psalm 46:1-7 Are you lonely or afraid? Read Psalm 27:1-6 Are you anxious for loved ones? Read Psalm 107:19-22 Are you sick? Read Psalm 1031-5 Are you tempted? Read Psalm 139:1-7 Is business bad? Read Psalm 37:1-9 When you travel, read Psalm 121:1-8 When you are weary, read Matthew 11:28-30. When you need inner peace, read John 14:1-6 When you have lost a loved one, read 1 Corinthians 15:50-58. When you need stronger faith, read Hebrews 11. When you are tempted to worry about your children, read Isaiah 54:13. Daily Bible reading will provide strength, comfort, peace, joy and direction for your life. It’s a wonderful way to start 2003. The following quotations are taken from “Good News Publishers,” Wheaton, IL 60126, and used by permission. “We need courage to face today’s problems and divine wisdom to solve them, just as our forefathers did. We need to renew the spirit of faith in the Book that is the foundation of our personal well being, and the cornerstone of our country’s greatness. Let us turn to the Book that reveals the mind of God, His holiness, His love for lost sinners and his salvation through Jesus Christ. Dust it off! Read it! Believe it! Today could be a new beginning for you if you would believe the message of this Book. It has changed all of history, bringing life and blessing wherever it has been believed. If it is believed, once again it would bring blessing and life and hope to our nation, and to you today!” America still needs the Bible.” |
