History has recorded many stories of love and sacrifice, people who gave their lives to save others. We marvel at the heroic efforts of unselfish sacrifice and undaunted courage of those who have gone before us. Those valiant men on Flight #93 are just such heroes. It is hard to know how many lives they saved by taking the plane down. Todd Beamer's parting words lingers on....a badge of courage, a legacy for his wife and children. All of us can be quickly confronted with a life or death situation. Time is a gift. Making right choices becomes vital. Our finite minds can hardly fathom eternity. It has been compared to taking a drop of water from the ocean and dropping it on the sand. Ten thousand years later there would not be a noticeable difference. That leaves a choice...where to spend eternity. Wrong choices bring severe consequences. Jesus had a choice to make. He knew the suffering He had to endure, but He chose the cross anyway. He could have called ten thousand angels to come to His aid, but then, where would we be? Jesus choose the path to the cross because He is love and love conquers all! The cross is a testimony of God's grace and forgiveness. It's the message of the Resurrection. He overcame death for you and me. Those who believe, accept, and turn from sin will also overcome death. Let this Resurrection Day renew your spirit. Be grateful for God's gift of His Son. Determine to reach your citizenship in heaven. "And God has reserved for his children the priceless gift of eternal life; it is kept in heaven for you; pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And God, in his mighty power, will make sure that you get there safely to receive it because you are trusting him" (1 Peter 1:4-5 TLB). Hallelujah! He is risen! |
